About Me

Welcome! My name is Kirstin Woods and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and registered art therapist (ATR). I graduated with my master’s degree in art therapy and counseling in May 2019 and began working at an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adolescents in my home state of Connecticut. Upon moving to Vermont later that year, I started working at an IOP with a focus on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and worked there for over three and a half years. This provided me with extensive training and experience practicing DBT through group and individual therapy with adults and adolescents. In addition to my experience practicing DBT in this intense environment, I was also able to incorporate art therapy practices into the group and individual spaces to help clients with different learning styles or who were interested in using art making to learn and implement DBT principles.

I have completed a number of trainings within the DBT framework including:

  • Behavioral Tech: Comprehensive DBT Online Training Program, completed 2020 – Foundational training in DBT
  • DBT Prolonged Exposure, completed 2021 – Stage 2 DBT training for trauma treatment
  • Radically Open DBT, completed 2022 – Adaptation of DBT for disorders of over-control
  • Advanced DBT – A Deep Dive into Dialectics with Dr. Charlie Swenson, completed 2023
  • DBT for Substance Use Disorders, completed 2023
