DBT & DBT-Informed Therapy

What is DBT?

DBT stands for Dialectical Behavior Therapy and it is an evidence-based treatment for borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety, and PTSD, as well as suicidal ideation, self-harm, substance use, and disordered eating. It consists of building skills in the areas of mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance to create a life you want to live.

Individual Therapy

60 minute weekly individual therapy sessions to target your goals in therapy and learn how to use skills effectively in your life.

Outpatient DBT Therapy

Outpatient DBT treatment requires a one year commitment to once weekly therapy, as well as participation in a weekly coping skills group, completing a daily diary card to track patterns of behavior and emotions, and use of phone coaching to support skills integration.

DBT-Informed Therapy

DBT-informed treatment includes aspects of DBT treatment without the full year commitment, access to phone coaching, or required engagement in a coping skills group.

Mindfulness: increasing awareness of thoughts & emotions

Interpersonal Effectiveness: learning ways to engage in relationships in a meaningful way

Emotion Regulation – understanding how emotions influence our behavior and learning ways to regulate

Distress Tolerance – learning how to tolerate an emotional experience without making it worse
